After ruling out a redshirt, WR Justus Ross-Simmons delivers: ‘His touchdown was just hope’

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse wide receiver Justus Ross-Simmons has fought a hamstring injury since the team was in training camp, recently growing frustrated enough with its impact that he went to head coach Fran Brown and told him he thought the best thing he could do with this season was preserve a year of college eligibility.
“You come here, having been hurt the entire time, eighth game of the year,” Brown said. “He came and told me, ‘Coach, I think I want to redshirt.’ I said, ‘Redshirt my butt. You’re not redshirting. You’re about to play this week. You’re going to take off. You’re a part of what we’re doing. Just trust and believe in it.’ ”
